Build a Generator out of a 5 Gallon Bucket

This has to be the most innovative DIY prepper build I’ve seen in a LONG time. Sam Redfield developed this design to provide a source of electricity that can be built cheap and hooked up to any source of flowing water – including irrigation systems, creeks and streams, or even sewage systems. Using simple parts available at most hardware stores, this could be extremely helpful in an disaster situation.

No this isn’t going to replace a full size gas generator or a nice array of solar panels, but if you need a versatile energy source that will produce enough juice to power a cellphone charger, LED light, charging 2-way radios or any other small power item needs – then this build could be a huge help.

So if you’re not a mechanical master, you may want to recruit a buddy or two to assist you in the project.

So what do you think? Do you have any other cool DIY builds that could help build a more sustainable lifestyle? Do you have alternative ideas on ways to use this tool? Leave your comment below and tell us what you think. – Happy Prepping! – Skip Tanner, the Expert Prepper.
